PQRS Reporting
In an effort to improve quality of reporting in the healthcare industry, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) created the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS), which mandates that physical therapists, occupational therapists, and qualified speech-language therapists meet the criteria for satisfactory reporting. Beginning in 2013, not complying with PQRS requirements will result in penalties, which CMS will assess as fines (starting at 1.5% of your fee schedule) in 2015. However, if you are compliant, you will earn a 0.5% incentive payment on your total allowed charges during the reporting period.
WebPT is one of only two PQRS Certified Registry systems specifically designed for therapists. WebPT obtained certification in 2009 and continues to work with CMS to maintain compliance with our reporting tool that is fully integrated within the WebPT application.
PQRS is easy with WebPT's registry-based reporting. Your therapists simply answer a few extra questions during documentation, and we collect and store the data for your clinic based on the specific measures chosen. We then prepare the data for electronic submission and deliver it at the end of your claims period. We also offer claims-based reporting, which requires the clinic to manually submit their claims.
0.5% Bonus on Medicare Reimbursements
By participating in PQRS, each qualified, eligible professional within a clinic, which includes PTs, OTs and SLPs, can earn up to a 0.5% bonus on his/her total estimated allowed charges for his/her Medicare Part B Physician Fee Schedule. In order to earn the 0.5% incentive, you must complete three or more of the “eligible measures” on at least 50% of Medicare patients for claims-based reporting or 80% with registry-based reporting during the reporting period.
