The issues with Change Healthcare's system persist, which began on February 21, leading to ongoing difficulties in processing claims and accessing related remittance advice. As a result, we are unable to accept any remittances until these issues are fully resolved.
It is important to emphasize that we have not detected any indication of compromise to the data of WebPT Billing members. Safeguarding your information remains our utmost concern, and we are diligently monitoring the situation.
If Change Healthcare is Your Primary Clearinghouse:
If you are currently utilizing Change Healthcare as a primary clearinghouse, please be advised that you will likely see delays in incoming cash starting approximately the end of the first week in March.
Payments are being processed for claims submitted to Change Healthcare before February 21st. However, due to the service disruption at Change Healthcare, they are unable to send Electronic Remittance Advice (ERAs) containing payment details. This means we cannot post these payments to your account at this time.
Should I hold off on finalizing claims during this time?
No, please continue finalizing and billing claims through WebPT Billing as usual. Once the Change Healthcare integrations are restored, any pending claims will be automatically submitted. This will ensure your claims are processed promptly upon resolution.
If Waystar is Your Primary Clearinghouse:
If you are currently utilizing Waystar as the primary clearinghouse, you can anticipate a limited slowdown in cash flow. It's worth noting that while Waystar does send some claims to Change Healthcare, we do not have visibility into which specific payers are affected.
For professional primary paper claims (98999) currently listed as “Accepted by Waystar “
A new route for publishing Waystar professional primary paper claims (98999) has been added and any affected claims have been sent out as of February 27th, 2024. This was performed by Waystar and you do not need to take any action.
For Institutional primary paper claims, and secondary paper claims listed as “Accepted by Waystar”
Waystar is currently working on establishing a new route for their institutional primary paper claims, and their secondary paper claims and are planning to have that in place within the next few days. This will be performed by Waystar and you do not need to take any action.
What about claims that go through Change?
As new routes are set up, Waystar is submitting any affected claims. This will be performed by Waystar and you do not need to take any action.
*Waystar cannot provide a report of each Member’s claims who were originally held and now being sent via alternative routes.
*What about any affected remits routed via Change?
Since every payer requires enrollment for remits, and many of those payers take 30 days or more to process enrollment agreements, Waystar has not made any changes at this point. Waystar advises providers, if available, to download the 835 remit files from the payer websites and upload these files into Waystar. This will allow Waystar to process through their account back to the EMR. All members with appropriate access can perform this action at this time.
* Waystar cannot provide a report of remits that are coming back through Change Healthcare at this time.
We will continue to communicate updates as we receive them. You can also stay informed on Change Healthcare’s website here.
