Rethinking Payment: Cash-Based Clinics are on the Rise

Whether you’re a therapy business newbie or a seasoned pro, there’s a lot to keep straight when it comes to the rules, regulations, and policies that govern billing—to Medicare and private insurance carriers alike. That’s because, while these third-party intermediaries serve as a bridge to reimbursement, they don’t always have your best interests at heart. Shocking, right? As a result, more and more providers are shifting their payment strategy , opting to reduce their reliance on—or in …

Medicare and Cash-Pay PT Services, Part 1: The Must-Know Concepts to Avoid Legal Issues and Capitalize on Opportunities

“The sky is falling. The sky is falling!” There are a lot of doom-and-gloom attitudes among our colleagues, but it’s not the sky that is falling; it’s the payments for our services. And they’ve been falling for a long time. Combine tumbling payments with the enormous Baby Boomer population exiting the workforce and extracting from an already strained Medicare system, and it’s no surprise that many providers feel the future of PT private practice is bleak.  But …

That being said, I’m all about tipping the scales in the direction of success—and that often entails absorbing all I can from those who have embarked on a similar journey before me. So, in the spirit of sharing wisdom, below are …

What is Concierge PT—and Why is it Getting So Popular?

It’s no secret that our healthcare model is a bit, well, broken—for lack of a better term. Patients often have to wait weeks or months to gain access to providers—long enough for conditions to move from acute to chronic. The good news is that there are plenty of alternative practice models clinicians are adopting in order to meet patients’ demands for high-quality, convenient care. Concierge medicine is one of those models; it’s becoming very popular in the …

5 Things PTs Must Do to Take Over the World (as Told at the 9th Annual Graham Sessions)

When I attended my first Graham Sessions last year , I was initially disappointed to discover that this beloved annual event had nothing to do with s’mores. What I soon realized, though, is that this forum—often touted as a …
