It’s October, and that means it’s time to paaartay—not just in preparation for November’s shindig down in New Orleans, but all month long in celebration of all our fabulous physical therapists and PT assistants. In addition to dancing, cheering, stringing up banners, and everything else party-related, it’s our opportunity to reach out to the community and educate them on the value of physical therapy. (Want some tips? Check out our webinar on Marketing the PT Profession.)

The APTA wants to help you reach out, too. They’ve got the NPTM logo and graphics you can place on your website, social pages, or blog. Additionally, in honor of National Physical Therapy Month, the APTA and MoveForwardPT.com have teamed up to rank the Top 10 Fittest Baby Boomer Cities in America, which wraps up their Fit After 50 campaign. Click here to learn more about the history of National Physical Therapy Month (NPTM), and watch the video below from the APTA president to learn more about the importance of NPTM and how to support the cause:

How is your clinic celebrating NPTM? Are you doing anything in particular to raise awareness and educate online or within your community? Share in the comments below.

Know someone interested in pursuing a career in physical therapy? Check out the video below, which shows the many ways PTs and PTAs help their patients restore and improve motion and function, thus positively impacting their quality of life.

But beyond the fall-themed changes in the air, there's yet another reason to celebrate the calendar flipping to October, as this month marks the annual celebration of National Physical Therapy Month ! Happy National PT Month 2017!

When you think about October, you likely think of kids leaping into piles of crunchy, dried leaves, a freshly carved jack-o-lantern on your front porch, and maybe a spooky meme or two . But at WebPT, we’re thinking about physical therapists. (To be fair, PTs are pretty much always on our minds.) That’s because the APTA has dubbed October  National Physical Therapy Month , and we think it’s the perfect reason to celebrate professionals who are dedicated …

Giving Back: 2016 PT Day of Service

Volunteering at nursing homes. Tutoring kids after school. Donating blood or cold, hard cash during times of need or just because. Whether you give of your time or your money, if you’re fortunate enough to lend a helping hand, doing so won’t only benefit those receiving your help; I’m willing to bet it’ll make you feel pretty darn great, too. Plus, you’ll likely inspire others to do the same. That’s the idea behind Global PT Day of …

    Happy National PT Month 2018!

’Tis the season for changing leaves, hot cider, pumpkin-spiced everything, and, of course, physical therapists. That’s because the APTA named October National PT Month —and they couldn’t have picked a better month. (It is, after all, when I was born. But that’s beside the point.) The true reason for celebrating this October is the wonderful work you and your colleagues do to promote health and wellbeing, restore and maintain function, and improve people’s lives—all without the use …

6 Biggest Takeaways from PPS 2015

Last week, I joined hundreds of amazing physical therapy professionals, students, and vendors (including yours truly, WebPT) at this year's PPS Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida. Despite the uncomfortable combination of tropical heat and humidity outside—and near-freezing conference rooms inside—everyone was in high spirits. Though I never made it to Disney World, I still felt like I was in the most magical place on Earth, thanks to the inspiring and informative presentations I saw and the thought-provoking …

Everything You Need to Know About POPTS

From day one of physical therapy school, we were taught to not even entertain the idea of working for a POPTS practice. I remember hearing the words, “Your license is on the line,” and feeling vaguely scared of the potential fallout from joining one of these heinous practices. But, I was so overwhelmed by the immediacy of school concerns that I didn’t take the time to consider why. I never did work for a POPTS clinic, but …

4 Ways Rehab Therapists are Like World-Class Athletes

The greatest games in the world are upon us, and as we all tune in and cheer on the nation, we can’t help but marvel at these world-class athletes. To have made it to the grandest arena in sports means they’re truly a cut above the rest—and cut from a different cloth. Their qualities are not unique, though; in fact, we think rehab therapists (PTs, OTs, and SLPs) have a lot in common with the elite athletes …

    Membership Matters

Physical therapists quite often discuss the benefits (as well as the shortcomings) of our national organization, the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Often, these discussions end with therapists saying that the APTA needs to do a better job of demonstrating the value of membership. This week, the APTA rolled out the Membership Matters campaign, which is designed to use the most effective advocates for membership—its current members. The campaign is built on the belief that more involvement …
