7 Fun Ideas for Your Next Patient Appreciation Event

No matter how you spin it, your practice wouldn’t exist without your patients. Each time an individual returns to your care, he or she demonstrates appreciation for the service you provide. So, how do you demonstrate your appreciation for them? Some folks might shy away from the prospect of coordinating a big bash, but you don’t have to invest a whole lot of time—or a whole lot of money, for that matter—into organizing a patient appreciation event. …

ACOs, Bundles, and PCMHs: A Trio of Innovative Payment Models

Healthcare innovation isn’t just about new techniques and technologies. As the US healthcare landscape continues to evolve—and, hopefully, improve—-one of the most important areas of focus is payment models. Here are three innovative payment models that have garnered substantial support among various leaders in the healthcare industry: Accountable care organizations (ACOs) What are …

Bigger and Better: How to Improve Patient Experience in Your Large Therapy Practice

Think back to the scrappy, bootstrapped start-up era of your practice. If I had to guess, I’d bet those early days were infused with optimism, enthusiasm, and healthy dose of anxiety. But with a lot of hard work—and maybe a little luck—word spread about the quality of your patient care, and your budding clinic flourished into a strong, healthy business. Perhaps you even added another location or two—or more. And at that point, you probably realized that—as …

Get Over Opioids: Join the #ChoosePT Movement

Patients are supposed to trust their doctors. So, when your doctor writes you a prescription, you usually don’t question it; you fill it, take it, and hope that it will make you better. But, what happens when a prescription turns into an addiction? Unfortunately, millions of Americans have learned the answer to that question the hard way. The Painkiller Problem As the APTA explains in a recent position paper titled, “Opioid Abuse and the Role of Physical …

High Note: Why Documentation is Good for Patient Satisfaction

These days, it’s tough to get people to agree on, well, pretty much anything—but if there’s one thing we learned from our recent industry-wide survey , it’s that rehab therapists’ dislike of paperwork is fairly universal. In fact, the vast majority of survey-takers said that completing documentation was their number-one frustration at both the individual and company level. (Hooray for unity, am I right?) But, documentation isn’t going anywhere any time soon; so, many therapy providers have …

How to Get More New Patients Without Spending a Dime

When you’re trying to get more of the stuff you need, sometimes all you have to do is ask . But shy of affecting a Dickensian persona and approaching referral sources with your hat in hand, you may not know what sort of strategy you should employ to get more patients into your clinic. The fact is, word-of-mouth advertising has been proven to boost marketing effectiveness by up to 54%. The message is clear: word-of-mouth is must …

Spooky, Scary, or Just Plain Fun: Halloween Traditions Across Our Community

I don’t know about you, but I’ve always loved Halloween. Sure, I’ve been a cat more times than I can count—not the most original or frightening costume, to be certain—but there’s just something exhilarating about donning a mask (or face makeup in my case) and exploring the things that go bump in the night. After all, the ancient Celts—who celebrated Samhain, what The History Channel credits as the “ancient origins of Halloween”—believed that on October 31, “the …
