As most of you probably know, last week was PT 2012, APTA's Annual Conference & Exposition. This year the APTA held the conference in Tampa, Florida, and despite the rainy weather, WebPT was front and center, along with a record-breaking number of therapists, about 1,000 more than last year.

It was so great to see everyone! Thanks to all our Members for stopping by our booth; we always love to hear your feedback. And, for those prospective Members who came by, it was wonderful to meet you and learn about your practice. We can’t wait to put WebPT to work for your clinic.

A special shout out to the new grads we met who used WebPT’s education program and have since recommended our software to their new employers. Happy graduation! Here’s to amazing careers in therapy!

One of our favorite parts of this year’s show was the active social media participation. #PT2012 trended like hotcakes on Twitter. Did you follow? Therapists truly enjoyed the conversation, so much so that they were hashtagging on Tampa’s sandy shores:

Speaking of social media, one of the real PT 2012 showstoppers was Therapydia, a physical therapy directory slash social media site that launched earlier this year. Currently connecting 135,156 therapists, Therapydia’s goal is to unify all 212,000 PTs in the US using social media and mobilize them around key issues to elevate the profession. Check ‘em out and claim your profile.

Not sure what your weekend plans are, but we’re already getting ready for next year. See you at PT 2013, June 26‒29, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

New Orleans APTA Combined Sections Meeting 2011

Brrrr! As a cold front descended on New Orleans, Louisiana (or Nawlins as the locals say), so did just over 9100 PTs, PTAs, and PT students for 2011 CSM. Per the APTA , this was one of the best attended Combined Sections Meetings to date. The city has a lot of draw with Bourbon Street, riverboat gambling, hurricanes (the drink of course), ghost and swamp tours, and Cajun food. There was also the Rock-n-Roll Marathon & ½ …

    PPS 2010 Conference Highlights

The WebPT team attended and exhibited at the annual APTA  PPS 2010 Conference last week in Washington DC. This conference emphasized the business side of PT and how to improve your practice. This year's focus was marketing and tools to build your business. In this time of declining revenues per visit, PT clinic owners are being forced to think outside the box and really go after referrals, improve their billing practices to maximize returns, develop creative staff …

Highlights from the NY/NJ Combined State PT Conference

Fuhgid about it!  The New York and New Jersey Physical Therapy Associations collaborated for a Combined State conference in Atlantic City, New Jersey October 15 and 16.  Although conveniently hosted at the Sheraton Convention Center, consensus among the attendees and other vendors was that attendance was lower than normal due to location.  Those attending were therapists from many discipline areas, but mainly hospital based facilities. Despite lower attendance, the show must go on and it did. New …

All that Jazz: Top Takeaways from PPS 2017

As I pulled my scarf high up over my wind-chapped cheeks, dodged a car that nearly hit me as I made my way across the crosswalk, and heard the L train rattle the platform above my head, it wasn’t hard to imagine the likes of Al Capone or John Dillinger leading police on a wild goose chase through downtown Chicago. There’s no doubt that the Windy City is rich with history, but last week, Chi-Town was abuzz …

Live from CSM: Changing Perspectives on Prevention and Direct Access

With snow boots cinched and hot coffees in hand, thousands of physical therapy professionals and students have descended upon chilly Indianapolis, Indiana, for the American Physical Therapy Association’s (APTA) annual Combined Sections Meeting (CSM). In addition to checking out the latest and greatest PT tools and technologies—including, ahem, certain cloud-based EMR software —on the trade show floor, attendees will spend the next few days filling their brains with all of the latest and greatest PT news and …

More Than Luck: 5 PPS 2016 Takeaways

Last week, the Wynn Las Vegas was abuzz with more than the whir of spinning reels and the jangle of noisy slot machines. That’s because, amidst the usual cheers and chimes of a casino floor, more than 1,000 private practice leaders, vendors, students, and other professionals came together to share and learn advice for private practice success during PPS 2016. Throughout all of the sessions I attended, I noticed one centralized theme: it’s going to take more …

Building the Arizona WebPT Therapist Community

Two weeks ago we launched our first ever in-person members event called Evolve. This focused, local event gave physical therapists an opportunity to come together and discuss electronic medical records (EMR) software and elements that affect their practice. We were thrilled to have such engaged members and non-members attend. The discussion focused on the day-to-day business of running a physical therapy clinic. We talked about how members currently use WebPT and how it can be improved. Our …

    Happy National PT Month 2017!

When you think about October, you likely think of kids leaping into piles of crunchy, dried leaves, a freshly carved jack-o-lantern on your front porch, and maybe a spooky meme or two . But at WebPT, we’re thinking about physical therapists. (To be fair, PTs are pretty much always on our minds.) That’s because the APTA has dubbed October  National Physical Therapy Month , and we think it’s the perfect reason to celebrate professionals who are dedicated …

Sharpen Your Saw: My Top 3 Takeaways from CSM 2017

Sometimes you have to take a break from the “work” of your work to hone your skills and take your game to the next level. After returning home from this year’s APTA Combined Sections Meeting (CSM) in San Antonio, I feel like that statement rings particularly true; after all, it takes stepping outside your office—and the comfort zone you’ve created inside those walls—to learn new ideas and approaches that will help you become more effective and efficient …
