WebPT would like to take this time to express our deepest sympathies to those affected by the recent destructive weather in the Southeast portion of the U.S.  Below is a map of the areas hardest hit by the Spring 2011 Tornadoes.

One of our very own WebPT team members commented on the destruction:

“I was deeply impacted by the recent destruction and loss of lives in the Southeast. I grew up in Eastern TN. My entire family is still there and I have several friends scattered throughout the Southeast region directly in the path of this horrific storm. I mourn the loss as if it was my family, because ultimately, it was my family." - Mike Clevenger, WebPT Member Support Rep

As we share in Mike's empathy for the devastation sustained by  friends and family, the WebPT team has also turned our efforts toward the WebPT community of rehab clinics in the Southeast.  We have spoken with many of the PT clinics in the region to discover that most were fortunate enough to avoid major damage, only experiencing some power loss and minor issues.  However, others were not so lucky.  Our thoughts go out to those affected and wish you a speedy return to business and quality of life.

To assist in relief efforts, WebPT is reaching out to provide financial assistance to some of our members and their families in the SouthEastern United States.  A portion of our proceeds for the month of May will be donated to local charities, who are able to distribute funds, clothing and food to those who were impacted the most.

Please  join WebPT in providing assistance to your fellow therapists, WebPT members and their families; our members have indicated that the following organizations are providing the most immediate and effective assistance:

State of Alabama American Red Cross Salvation Army

Founder Letter: Stability in the Midst of Chaos: Celebrating 10 Years

As a general rule, I do my best to steer clear of politics in these letters. Aside from pushing for pro-PT legislation, I keep my views on party lines to myself. After all, beyond the individuals elected, the goal of our democratic government has always been to work together to find solutions that serve the greater good. Now, we’ve had government shutdowns before—sadly enough. But the three-day shutdown that happened at the end of January was particularly …

Coming Soon: The New WebPT Website

Here at WebPT, we like to keep things fresh (see “Be Minty” in this  blog post ). As such, we decided our website could use a little sprucing up—to make it simpler, cleaner, faster, and more representative of the WebPT brand. When you visit  WebPT.com  next week, you’ll definitely notice the new design, but don’t let it throw you for a loop. Even though we’ve enhanced the visual appeal of our website, nothing about the WebPT application …

Making the Most of WebPT’s Webinars

By now, you’ve probably heard a lot about WebPT’s super informative, spectacularly relevant, and extremely educational webinar series. We’re pretty proud of them. That’s why, today, I’d like to take a few moments to answer some frequently asked webinar questions.  What is a webinar? A webinar is a seminar that takes place over the Internet (a web-based seminar = webinar). Unlike a traditional seminar, you can participate in a webinar from anywhere you’d like as long as …

Can you Smell What the RockTape is Cooking? Hint: It’s Both Educational and Fun

Okay, so Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson might have been cooking something at one point or another. And although I’m not exactly sure what that means—there’s got to be a connection in there somewhere—I am sure of the fact that RockTape has been cooking up some valuable CEU courses. As a therapist, your love of learning is second nature. And as such, you probably already know that CEU courses help you stay up to date on the latest …

    WebPT Employee Workout Playlist

Did you know that carefully selected music can enhance the endurance of exercisers by 15%? This statistic is one of the findings from a 2008 Brunel University research study . Being an active bunch, we asked all members of the WebPT team to submit their favorite workout songs and playlists. We had quite a few interesting songs submitted. With a long list of options, we drew songs out of a hat. Drum-roll please! And here’s the winning …

Founder Letter: ICD-10 Delayed Until 2015

I originally planned to start this founder letter with “T-minus six months and counting until ICD-10.” However, yesterday, the Senate passed HR 4302, which delays a 24% fee schedule cut, extends the therapy cap exceptions process (i.e., use of the KX modifier), and pushes the ICD-10 implementation date to next year—as in October 1, 2015. For some of you, this might elicit a sigh of relief, but those who were ready are sighing in disbelief. President Obama …

Want to Get More Out of Your CEUs? Here’s How.

As a therapist, you’re committed to changing lives by helping people get better. One way to provide higher quality patient care—a crucial component of that commitment—is through education. By continuing your education, you have the opportunity to broaden your clinical expertise as well as deepen your knowledge of your specialty. Furthermore, you’re boosting your professional development with newly gleaned skills and experience. Although most states require continued education , its importance extends well beyond staying sharp. The …
