More and more of our “members” are seeing patients who are looking for fitness plans they can use to improve their health without chronic pain. These types of patients are often not covered by insurance and may not even come with a referral from a physician. Their care plan may require long-term fitness strategies and an occasional visit over long periods of time in order to adjust as their fitness needs change. Electronic documentation is the perfect way to manage these patients with unique care plans.

Athletes over 50 usually hire a physical therapist after a problem, often an injury if not surgery. But more older people are starting to hire physical therapists before they get hurt to fill the role of personal trainer.

By fitness-training standards, physical therapists who specialize in sports medicine are extraordinarily highly educated in the science of preserving, restoring and improving human function.

The Ultimate ICD-10 FAQ: Part Deux

Just when we thought we’d gotten every ICD-10 question under the sun, we got, well, more questions. Like, a lot more. But, we take that as a good sign, because like a scrappy reporter trying to get to the bottom of a big story, our audience of blog readers and webinar attendees aren’t afraid to ask the tough questions—which means they’re serious about preparing themselves for the changes ahead. And we’re equally serious about providing them with …

WebPT Helps Prana PT be Better in Business

Ann Wendel started Prana Physical Therapy, PLLC , in 2003, but in 2006, she decided to spend the next several years working for someone else. In 2011, though, the entrepreneurial bug bit once again, and Wendel reopened Prana PT. She started as a contractor with another small, PT-owned private practice and then slowly began cultivating her own clientele. Today, Wendel is proud to be 100% self-employed. “I sublet space in a personal training studio where I have …

Lakeside & Polson Physical Therapy Saves Time, Stays Compliant with WebPT

Since 1996, Lakeside & Polson Physical Therapy has been a PT mainstay in Northwest Montana’s beautiful Flathead Valley. But when Samantha Modderman, PT, and her business partners took over ownership of the two-clinic practice last year, they couldn’t believe how outdated its existing billing and documentation methods were. Both clinics had been using paper documentation and an outdated, DOS-based billing system. “In looking at some of the existing paper charts on patients, I was amazed at the …

    Documentation Sucks, but WebPT Rocks!

Today’s blog post comes from  Ann Wendel ,  PT.  Ann is the owner of  PranaPT , a member of WebPT, and an active social media participant (@PranaPT). Thanks, Ann! I love the Documentation Sucks campaign! The slogan is attention-grabbing, succinct, and effective because it hooks us through emotion. I know that some people initially took issue with using the word “sucks” in a professional marketing campaign; but WebPT founder Heidi Jannenga did a great job of explaining …

Founder Letter: Stability in the Midst of Chaos: Celebrating 10 Years

As a general rule, I do my best to steer clear of politics in these letters. Aside from pushing for pro-PT legislation, I keep my views on party lines to myself. After all, beyond the individuals elected, the goal of our democratic government has always been to work together to find solutions that serve the greater good. Now, we’ve had government shutdowns before—sadly enough. But the three-day shutdown that happened at the end of January was particularly …
