Paul J. Meyer, entrepreneur and author, once said “communication—the human connection—is the key to personal… success.” While Meyer probably wasn’t referring to the efficacy of speech-language pathology and audiology, it would seem that the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) agrees with his sentiment. Each May, in honor of Better Hearing and Speech Month, ASHA selects a theme to generate discussion around the SLP and audiology community. This year, that theme is “Communication: The Key to Connection,” and ASHA is providing a wealth of activities and resources to help everyone celebrate the speech and hearing industries all month long.

Educate

Knowledge is power! And you can keep your patients—and yourself—informed with hearing loss prevention tips and other educational materials provided by ASHA. The association offers a plethora of resources for patients and their families, making it easier than ever to stay informed on the issues related to hearing loss, tinnitus, and other speech and auditory disorders.

Celebrate

Who doesn’t like a sweet deal? In celebration of Better Hearing and Speech Month, ASHA is offering 20% off consumer products. Want to get your patients in on the festivities? Make your office festive with coloring pages, bookmarks, and signage that proudly shout to the world the value of what you do—without perforating any eardrums, that is. ASHA has even created a Family Feud-style game that you can incorporate in your next employee engagement meeting. Game on!
