Software requires backups in order to ensure no loss of data in the event of a malfunction. An offsite backup provider (a cost to you) may be needed to monitor and maintain the backups. |

| Operating System |
Software is written specifically for a type of operating system (Mac, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Linux, etc.) and will not work on other platforms or operating systems. Therefore, all computers need to be changed over to the same operating system and/or new computers need to be purchased to comply. |
A web based solution can be accessed by any operating system and the computers need only to have internet access. |

Software often has unique attributes and design features which must be learned by everyone on your staff which can take time and can lead to a long training period. |
