Business Challenge

Lauren Hebert has been a physical therapist in private practice since 1983. After building his clinic to 3 locations and more than 20 employees, he decided to get back to his small hometown to take a solo practice format. He now works with one other PT and an ATC and is enjoying the low overhead associated with his smaller venture. When Lauren set out on this new venture, he was working with Paper documentation and manually faxing information to his referral sources. This method was inefficient and taking valuable time out of his day that could have been spent treating patients.

Lauren had a few key items that needed to be solved. Many of his referring physicians were asking when he was going to make the switch to EMR. His notes were handwritten and difficult to read. Lauren is also a Mac enthusiast and needed a system that was Mac compatible. He also wanted a system that had originated from a Physical Therapist’s point of view so he could be confident the system would serve his needs.

 Web-Based saves a ton of money and software hassles on our end. The ease of faxing, the ability to use Mac computers is great. Having the system originate directly from a PT and managed by the PT community is critical. 

Additionally, SmartCare saves is now able to do all of their documents while they interact with their patients. This allows them to focus on patient care and avoid having a long list of documents to be completed once the day is done. Lauren and his staff devote less than one hour per day to documentation.

Another huge benefit of using WebPT for a solo practice is the ability to run a full-scale operation without having a front office staff. Lauren is able to answer his own phones, do his own scheduling, and contract out his billing with the use of WebPT.

 In today’s hostile health care environment, that is an effective survival strategy and saves my clinic a ton of costs.
