Marketing Ninja-in-Training (Unpaid, Part-Time Internship)

Responsibilities:  As the WebPT Marketing Ninja, you will be responsible for a little bit of everything:

  • From Wistia to FTPs, we got marketing apps to manage, files to upload, and messy marketing drives to organize. That’s where you come in.
  • Work with and learn from all facets of the spectacularly talented—and devilishly handsome, if we do say so ourselves—WebPT marketing crew. From media management to creative, you’ll get your hands dirty in all sorts of marketing muck.
  • While it’ll only be occasionally, we hope you enjoy running errands. With traffic like Phoenix’s, why wouldn’t you?!
  • Throw business casual to the wind. We want casual-casual. Rock flip flops and jeans. We don’t care, so long as you do good work and enjoy yourself.
  • Get ready to fly by the seat of your pants. This role is ever-evolving—just like our team and our marketing initiatives—so while you don’t need to be Cirque du Soleil flexible, we may once in awhile ask you to do a few back bends, or at least try some things outside of your wheelhouse.

Qualifications:  For this internship, we’re looking for a current college student obtaining a degree in marketing or a related field. Additionally, this candidate should demonstrate the following qualities:

  • Love to laugh. If you take yourself too seriously, then avert your eyes from this description now.
  • Know how to roll up your sleeves. We have a lot of brass tacks here, and we like to get down to ‘em.
  • Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson’s REWORK is on your bookshelf or library card or Kindle—whatever, anywhere—just make sure you’ve read it.
  • Rock the Mic like a vandal—not just in karaoke, but in all forms of communication, i.e., talk well and write good stuff.
  • Play really nice with others. We’re a tight-knit, highly collaborative team, i.e., we’re friends first. No power struggling, under-the-bus throwing, über competitiveness, or general meanness allowed.
  • We like to think we’re pretty organized. You need to be even more so. We want someone in love with organization; filing; application management; spreadsheets; the smell of office supplies in the morning...you get the idea.
  • Rock the Mic like a vandal—not just in karaoke, but in all forms of communication, i.e., talk well and write good stuff. We’re talking impeccable communication skills and grammatical knowledge. You’re representing the WebPT brand, and we take our voice seriously.
  • Be organized, ahead of schedule, communicative, accountable—in short, own your role entirely, while being open to critiques, suggestions, edits, and new ideas. (See bullet point about “tight-knit, highly collaborative team.”)
  • Let’s talk culture: energy, integrity, positivity, a hunger for knowledge, and a passion for marketing. Bring all that and a bag of chips. Seriously, we love chips.

Note: This position is an unpaid internship beginning now and running through the Spring 2013 semester. We would love you to be able to work 15 hours per week (three five-hour days), but we’re totally flexible if your school schedule requires something different. We know the unpaid part is sort of a drag, but hey, just think of the experience you’re earning. Not only do you get to call yourself a Marketing Ninja for one of the top technology startups in Phoenix, you’ll work with a totally badass team of marketers—from killer copywriters and graphic designers to superb strategists, media buyers, and event planners. And, we’ll happily submit any documentation you need to earn school credit for your time. Plus, once you’ve proven yourself as being ninja-riffic, we can talk full- or part-time opportunities beginning Summer 2013 (oh, yeah, those are paid).
